Fire Emblem Awakening Artist Designing Characters for Otome Game DesperaDrops

D3 Publisher will release a new otome game, DesperaDrops, on the Nintendo Switch sometime in Winter 2023. It will feature character designs by Fire Emblem Awakening artist Yusuke Kozaki. Some other works that Kozaki previously designed for include the No More Heroes series, Fire Emblem Fates and and Ai: The Somnium Files. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

In saying that though, we have no pictures of the DesperaDrops characters so far. We can only see their silhouettes. More information on them, including the Fire Emblem artist’s designs, will come out in the near future. It looks like there will be seven main love interests in the game for us to pursue.

DesperaDrops is a completely new otome IP from D3P and Red Entertainment. The two previously collaborated on Nightshade, which is a romance visual novel focusing on ninjas during the Sengoku Period. (Nightshade also eventually appeared worldwide.) DesperaDrops’s genre is described as crime-suspense. It’ll take place throughout Europe and follow the protagonists on the run after they are accused of a crime they didn’t commit.

Aside from Yusuke Kozaki, it will feature writing from Ririka Yoshimura and an opening and ending theme from Zwei. Yoshimura previously worked on otome titles such as the Jakou no Lyla series and the Cupid Parasite games.

DesperaDrops will come out in Winter 2023 for the Nintendo Switch in Japan. More information on the story and characters will appear in the near future.
