Epic Games and Valve announced that the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI will appear on Steam and Epic Games Store and shared a release date. People will be able to begin playing on the new platform on September 17, 2024.
As a reminder, we always had some idea that Final Fantasy XVI could be heading to PC or some other platform, as Square Enix noted there was a six month exclusivity period following its June 22, 2023 PS5 launch. In September 2023, Producer Naoki Yoshida teased news about that version of the game. Yoshida also noted in March 2024 that like the PS5 release, there will be a demo for the PC one. That is available now. In June 2024, Director Hiroshi Takai also noted that the PC version was in development.
The product pages for Final Fantasy XVI are already live on Epic Games Store and Steam. It noted the game will cost $49.99. People get the Onion Sword and game with it. If people buy it before October 17, 2024, then they also get a Brave Blade sword, a Cait Sith’s Charm accessory, and the “Sixteen Bells” Orchestrion Roll for the in-game music player. A Complete Edition that also includes the Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide add-ons will be available for $69.99.
