Final Fantasy XVI Has Sold 3 Million Sales on Playstation 5

Does the Final Fantasy XVI Demo Progress Carry Over to the Full Release?

Square Enix announced that the recently released Final Fantasy XVI passed three million copies sold, including both digital and physical sales. That marks a strong start only a week after the game’s release on on June 22, 2023. Currently the game is only available on Playstation 5, though a PC port is in the works.

A major release for Square Enix, Final Fantasy XVI ended up surrounded by several dramatic marketing campaigns, including a sword in the Tower of London, Eikon-themed outfits and 3D ads in Tokyo.

This installment is also the first mainline Final Fantasy title since 2016’s Final Fantasy XV. However, Square continued to release non-mainline titles like Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, as well as the ongoing remake of Final Fantasy VII

This is a banner year for Final Fantasy games. In addition to new releases like this entry and the upcoming Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, Final Fantasy XIV celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2023. It shares a producer with XVI.

Final Fantasy XVI is immediately available on the Playstation 5, with a PC release confirmed but not dated. A free demo is also available, with saves carrying over to the full game.
