Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.5 Release

During the Final Fantasy XIV Announcement Showcase, it was revealed that Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.5 Death Unto Dawn will release in April 2021. At least, part one of what will be a two part release, with the second part scheduled to release in late May 2021. Players can expect to see the first part of Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.5 appear on April 13, 2021.

This date lines up with the scheduled open beta for the PlayStation 5 version of the game. As mentioned previously, those who already own Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade their copy to the PlayStation 5 version of the game entirely for free.

New content scheduled for Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.5 include new main scenario quests, a new instanced dungeon, the next part of the YorHa: Dark Apocalypse raid storyline, updates made to the Relic Weapon system, and the continuation of the Save the Queen Relic Weapon questline. More dungeons will be added to the newly implemented explorer mode as well.

The Final Fantasy XIV Announcement Showcase featured a plethora of new information. This included the announcement of the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker expansion. A short cinematic trailer was shown during the presentation, along with the reveal of an entirely new healing job. Alongside this, viewers were treated to a preview of two upcoming areas that will be found in the expansion. More information about Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker will be revealed at the next scheduled Fan Fest event.

Final Fantasy XIV is immediately available on PlayStation 4 and PC. An open beta for the PlayStation 5 version of the game will be available on April 13, 2021 which is the same date as first part of the 5.5 patch.
