Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers Episode One: Telling a Tale

Square Enix kicked off a new behind-the-scenes video series for Final Fantasy XIV to go over the creation of the Shadowbringers expansion.

The goal behind The Creation of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is to show the thought process of the creative minds behind the development. It will feature six episodes of developer diary videos focusing on different elements of the MMORPG. We’ll get to hear from various members of the development team, starting with producer and director Naoki Yoshida who had some interesting things to say in this episode about the “subconscious image that light equals justice and darkness equals evil” and more.

The series starts with Episode One: Telling a Tale. In the episode, we hear more about the lore and narrative of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. Starting with an introduction, the developers talk about their roles and inspirations. They also share some secrets behind the development of the Shadowbringers expansion.

Episode One features the following members of the development team:

  • Naoki Yoshida (Producer and Director)
  • Banri Oda (World Lore Creator and Main Scenario Writer)
  • Natsuko Ishikawa (Main Scenario Writer)
