Final Fantasy XIV is back online after a scheduled maintenance period, and with it comes a new patch. FFXIV version 6.08 is now live, along with patch notes detailing the latest series of changes to the game.
The patch notes themselves are fairly straightforward, containing no radical changes to the way the various jobs play. Instead, a number of jobs all received increases to the potency of various abilities. Notably, the Paladin, Dragoon, Ninja, Samurai, Dancer, Warrior, Monk, Machinist, Black Mage, and Summoner saw the most changes. The potency changes range from minor (such as the Samurai’s Hakaze gaining 30 potency) to significant (the Dancer’s Technical Finish jumped from 1,080 potency to 1,200). Dragoons also received a range increase to their Dragon Sight ability, which increases a target party member’s damage while they stay within range. As of Patch 6.08, a Dragoon’s buddy can now roam up to twice as far away.
The most significant event of Final Fantasy XIV 6.08 is the opening of the long-in-development Oceanian Data Center. Named Materia, the Oceanian Data Center will improve latency and performance for players in Australia, New Zealand, and parts of South and Southeast Asia. Its five new servers take on the names of in-game Primals from the Heavensward expansion: Bismarck, Ravana, Sephirot, Sophia, and Zurvan. Players interested in creating new characters on Materia (or using the World Transfer service to move there) will receive benefits such as experience gain bonuses, gil, free play time, and special items.
Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.08 also sees the addition of new optional items to the Mog Station item store. Players can now purchase outfits replicating the clothing of the male and female avatars of Omega from Stormblood‘s normal raids. These outfits are sold separately for $12 each, and are gender-locked. Only female characters can wear the Omega-F attire, and only male characters can wear the Omega-M attire. Both the Omega forms are also featured in the Meister-quality Omega statue.
