Final Fantasy XIII-2 Will Have DLC Scenarios, Maybe Downloadable Characters

lightning At a Square Enix Members event, producer Yoshinori Kitase fielded a few questions about Final Fantasy XIII-2 kindly transcribed by an attendee. Someone in the audience asked for more details about the game’s downloadable content.

Kitase reminded the group about the costumes and Omega encounter, which were previously announced and said the game would have additional scenarios. Another person asked if characters from Final Fantasy XIII for battle use would be DLC. Kitase said this is under consideration and further details about DLC will be announced after the game launches.

The Final Fantasy Type-0 team also showed up with director Hajime Tabata answering most of the questions. Tabata revealed there was a bit of cut content from the game. The student characters lived in a dorm, which the team planned to show in the mobile phone version. When Final Fantasy Type-0 changed platforms to PSP there was too much content, so they had to cut out events in the (presumably Suzaku) dormitory and cafeteria.

The last question was about UMD Passport support, that’s the program where PSP disc owners can buy discounted downloads for use with PlayStation Vita. Currently, Square Enix does not have any UMD Passport titles and some of their PSP catalog is not even available for purchase on PlayStation Network. A representative from Sony Computer Entertainment explained program support was up to the game makers. Shinji Hashimoto, Senior Vice President and Front Mission Evolved producer, said he would discuss this with SCE after the meeting ended.
