When Final Fantasy XIV patch 5.3 arrives on August 11, 2020, it won’t just make the game better. It will also make the FFXIV free trial more enticing. Square Enix’s Naoki Yoshida went through updates in a July 22, 2020 Letter from the Producer Twitch and YouTube stream and confirmed an expansion that will let people sample the base game and Heavensward.
During the presentation, four FFXIV free trial expansion elements were elaborated on. The first is that it will cover the base game and Heavensward expansion, with content going up to patch 3.56. When people make a character, the Au’Ra will be one of the options, alongside the Hyur, Elezen, Lalafell, Miqo’te, and Roegadyn, after the update. As they go through their sample of the adventure, they will be able to use the Astrologian, Dark Knight, and Machinist jobs. (This means there will be 13 total classes in the free trial.) Finally, you could even get up to level 60. However, as the screen noted, “Restrictions on in-game currency and marketplace use have not been changed.”
This also means the FFXIV Starter Edition will be altered. This was normally the base A Realm Reborn game and had things like a level 50 level cap, but didn’t offer Heavensward.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
