FFXIV Dawntrail Story Is a ‘Summer Vacation’ Set in Tural

After announcing the new expansion at the 2023 Fan Fest, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida announced details about the FFXIV Dawntrail story and how it takes people to the “New World” location of Tural for a “summer vacation.” The theme color this time is gold, and is part of a “journey of discovery.”

When introducing FFXIV Dawntrail’s story, Yoshida said, “What we want to bring to all you Warriors of Light is the very best summer vacation a hero could possibly have.” He noted this is a “first step” for the next adventure for the game. We’ll head to Tural alongside the Scions to help pick the new ruler during a rite of succession. However, Yoshida teased that the Scions will be split into two groups. So people might not end up being your allies during the adventure. The winner takes the throne from Gulool Ja Ja, the Mamool Ja ruling the new city.

There’s also rumor of a “City of Gold.” The initial story teases suggest that the events of this contest for the new ruler will involve players reaching it.
