The Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer LIVE Part LX stream ended with a hint at things to come. First, there was an update about the state of the fan fests for the game. But even more importantly, a Final Fantasy XIV event will be held in February 2021. There’s no specific date, but it seems like it will involve some sorts of potential major announcements.
There will actually be two parts to this February 2021 affair. First, there will be the actual Final Fantasy XIV event. This stream said that the whole point will be “to announce new information.” It will then be followed by a 14-hour broadcast.
As a reminder, the last expansion, Shadowbringers, was announced back in November 2018 and released in July 2019. Heavensward was out in 2015 and Stormblood in 2017. If Square Enix follows its pattern, 2021 could be the year another expansion is released.
There was also an update on the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fests. Back in July 2020, the Japanese one in Nagoya was canceled, but the February 2021 European one in London was “still under consideration.” During the presentation, its cancellation was confirmed as well.
Here are the two screenshots from the presentation that confirmed both the European Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest cancellation and the February 2021 event.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC. Thanks to the PlayStation 5’s backward compatibility feature, the game will be playable on the next-gen system as well.
