Fate/Grand Order Kicks Off a Comic-Con With the Summer Servant Festival

Servant Summer Festival

With the recent Summer 2019 rerun winding down, it’s time for the main event: Fate/Grand Order‘s summer event for 2020: the Summer Servant Festival. Thanks to the machinations of Fate/Extra CCC alum BB, Chaldea’s Servants have been transported to none other than sunny Hawaii, right on time for…a comic convention! The heat of the beach will be combined with the heat of the battlefield, as Servants compete to sell their own original indie fanzines and comics at the Servant Summer Festival, as well as investigate signals of a mysterious Foreigner-class Servant lurking somewhere in the area.

What that means for players is enough swimwear-sporting Servants to fill a convention center, as this year’s Servant Summer Festival debuts a number of desirable, limited-time summoning banners. First on the list is Jeanne d’Arc’s summer incarnation. The Maid of Orleans has become the Maid of dauphins, sporting an Archer class and a dolphin-training motif. Other summer additions include a Summer edition of BB herself (the game’s first 5-Star MoonCancer Servant), a mysterious new 4-Star Foreigner (the first one since Katsushika Hokusai and Abigail Williams debuted late in 2019), and class-bent renditions of Ibaraki-douji, Ushiwakamaru, and Queen Medb, in Lancer, Assassin, and Saber classes, respectively. Even the men get some attention this time, as the event contains cosmetic summer costume options for Caster Gilgamesh, Robin Hood, and Edmond Dantes.

Of course, players who can’t roll, either because they’re saving for someone else or blew their reserves on Skadi, won’t be left out. Everyone who participates in the Servant Summer Festival will receive their very own Jeanne d’Arc Alter. Or rather, they’ll get her summer incarnation, which swaps to the Berserker class, trading vengeful flames of hatred for a Noble Phantasm that she named “because German sounds cool”.

Fate/Grand Order is available on iOS and Android, and the Servant Summer Festival event kicks off on August 3, 2020. It will run until August 22, 2020.
