In a few snippets of the interview shared by leaker ryokutya2089, Director Niino said that, because the original Fate/Extra PSP release didn’t have that much volume of content, the developers were capable of adding what they think the original was lacking as well as increasing the production value of the game. For example, the Arena sections, where combat and exploration take front and center, have been substantially reworked compared to the original PSP release.

Additionally, with the jump in hardware from the PSP to the last and current generation of consoles as well as PC, Type-Moon Studio BB was capable of displaying a larger number of NPCs and characters in the classrooms and different areas of the game. Niino also said that, with Fate/Extra Record, the developers aren’t making a game that requires heavy hardware performance.

Fate/Extra Record is currently in development and it will come out in Japan sometime on 2025 for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam. There is no confirmation on an overseas release yet.
