Fantasy Life Expansion Pack Content Confirmed For The West

Recommended Videos

Nintendo of America have announced that when Fantasy Life launches for the Nintendo 3DS on October 24th, the game will include both local and online multiplayer.

In addition, the game will allow you to download a content pack called “Origin Island,” which you can purchase from the Nintendo eShop. This will add a new area to the game that is home to an ancient culture and “powerful enemies”.

It will feature additional story content, new ranks to achieve in Life Classes, more powerful equipment and two new varieties of pets—birds and dragons. Effectively, what this means is that the version of the game we’re getting is Fantasy Life Link, an enhanced version of Fantasy Life that was released in Japan following the original game.

Japanese players who owned the original were able to purchase the new content as an expansion pack via the eShop, and the same is being done here. The one difference is that it sounds as though we’re getting online multiplayer out-of-the-box, rather than as a paid upgrade, judging by the way Nintendo’s press release is worded. We’ve sent an e-mail to Nintendo of America for confirmation on this and will report once we hear back.

Fantasy Life will be available on October 24th in North America and September 24th in Europe.
