Last week, a Nintendo Switch was shown off on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Since the airing, many Nintendo fans have analyzed the footage of the new console, trying to glean whatever information they can from the appearance. [Thanks, NeoGAF.]
Previously, it was rumored that Nintendo’s upcoming console could be region-free, meaning games from other regions could be played on the system. However, thanks to the Switch’s latest public demonstration, others are also believing that this particular Switch had been a European unit, noting a European CE mark on the back of Switch. Equivalent to the United States FCC, the CE mark is required for products to be sold in Europe.
For now, there’s nothing to do but speculate whether the model that appeared on The Tonight Show was European or that the Switch will be entirely region-free until we get more details on the Switch during the Nintendo Switch Presentation which will be taking place next month.
The Nintendo Switch is slated to release sometime in March 2017, and more details, including an exact release date, are expected from an event scheduled for next month.
