Fans Attempt To Remake Shining Force As An MMORPG

Recommended Videos

A fan-made Shining Force MMORPG for browsers? Sure, why not. Stranger things have happened.

Developed by unFun Games, Shining Force Online is an attempt to release a fan-made online RPG that uses the characters from Sega’s Shining Force series and puts them in an alternate universe. It’s described as a story-driven game that you can play as either a single-player title or with other players. The game is completely free to play.

So, how exactly did unFun Games handle the art for Shining Force Online? The game uses artwork from the Game Boy Advance remake, Resurrection of the Dark Dragon, as well as original art by unFun.

You can expect to see over 20 familiar faces from the Shining Force series, and unFun say that new characters, quests and story missions will be added to the title on a weekly basis. Shining Force Online supports “most web browsers”.

Shining Force Online will be available as a public beta this Thursday, November 28th, on the Arcade County website. You’ll need to sign up for an account before you can begin playing the game, although unFun Games say that there will likely growing pains—including potential server wipes—as the developers deal with exploits and more.
