By Nintendo didn’t give Endless Ocean much attention during their press conference. Actually they didn’t give it any. It’s sort of an understandable shame that it’s getting pushed aside because it has nothing to do with Mario, Zelda or Metroid.
So what kind of game is Endless Ocean? You play as scuba diver and you swim in the big blue among sea creatures. Part of the game involves identifying fish. You can feed them and “touch” them to receive a factoid blurb about the fish. Besides exploring the ocean depths not much is known about Endless Ocean, but since Arika is the developer I bet it will be similar to their Everblue games where you scout for treasure and take pictures of fish. What makes Everblue and Endless Ocean interesting is they aren’t games that give you an adrenaline rush. Arika made a series of relaxing, almost soothing games.

Final fun fact, you can customize the sound track in Endless Ocean by throwing MP3s on an SD card. Throw on sounds of the ocean if you want “authentic” waves and whale noises or you can plug in Led Zeppelin to introduce orcas to Stairway to Heaven.
