Exertainment: Nintendo’s take on gaming cross fitness

Sure this looks like a regular exercise bike from the 90’s, but before Dance Dance Revolution this was one of the ways to get fit from playing video games. The Exertainment cycle was a product designed by Nintendo and Life Fitness. There are only two completed games and unsurprisingly both are biking games. Speed Racer is your basic cycling game and Mountain Bike Rally improves on the formula by adding in more bicycles. Both games have support for faux hilly terrain by increasing pedal resistance. The problem with the device was clearly its price, with a hefty $3500 price tag few people bought this. Plans for third party games and one was rumored to star Pac-Man were all scrapped.
