Creative Director Matt Searcy and Brand Director Nicole Fawcette told Xbox.com that the story of E-Day is at the heart of the Gears universe. Saying it is a moment where themes of brotherhood, brutality, and resilience converge.
The game will explore the origins of the Chainsaw Lancer and other iconic elements. Additionally, providing a look at the younger Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago and the beginnings of their legendary bond.
What we know about how Gears of War E-Day will play
Developers at The Coalition are building this origin story from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5. This new entry aims to recreate the intense third-person action and emotional storytelling that fans love but with modern enhancements.
The trailer showcases a reimagined Locust Drone, aiming to restore the fearsome presence these antagonists once had. Studio Art Director Aryan Hanbeck told Xbox.com that they are redesigning the Locust to appear as “living nightmares.” Tapping into primal fears to provide a fresh yet familiar threat.
