During MegaHobby EXPO 2021, two Evangelion figure prototypes appeared from two different manufacturers. First, Alter showed off its Rei Ayanami 1/7th scale figure. She’s inspired by the Rebuild of Evangelion films. She’ll be over eight inches tall. Then, Revolve showed off its Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version Mari Illustrious Makinami figure. She’ll be eleven inches tall.
First, here’s a closer look at the Alter figure. This Rei figure is wearing the plugsuit from Evangelion 3.0 and 4.0. To help provide better context, Alter also shared the art that inspired the character’s outfit and pose.
Next, here’s the upcoming Evangelion Mari figure. To help provide more context, Revolve released a video of her. It offers a 360 degree view of the figure. After the halfway point, it zooms in to focus on her face and upper body.
Revolve showed off its painted Asuka Shikinami Langley figure at the event as well. Like the Mari one, it will have a Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version design. That will launch in January 2022 for ¥16,720 (~$147).
There is no release date for either the Alter Rei Ayanami or Revolve Mari Makinami figure prototypes yet. It is also unknown if they will be available outside of Japan. In the meantime, all four of the Rebuild of Evangelion are available to watch on Amazon Prime.
