Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Production Wrapped Up

Studio Khara announced production on the upcoming Neon Genesis Evangelion film, Evangelion 3.0+1.0, wrapped up. The official Twitter account shared a picture taken by Director Hidaeki Anno during the post-production process. It is the final frame of the film, accompanied by a caption announcing that post-production finished.

Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time, the fourth Rebuild of Evangelion movie also known as Shin Evangelion, was postponed due to concerns regarding COVID-19. The film was delayed numerous times, with its original window of release dating back to 2016. However, now that post-production has wrapped up, the film will finally see the light of day. In early October 2020, a final release date was announced, scheduling the upcoming film for a January 2021 debut.

Japanese musician Hikaru Utada will once again lend her talent to provide another song for the Evangelion series. As with previous entries in the Rebuild of Evangelion film series, Utada will sing the new theme song for Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time. This single, “One Last Kiss,” will release on iTunes in January 2021. A physical edition will release sometime within the same month.

Evangelion 3.0+1.0, also known as Shin Evangelion, will release on January 23, 2021 in Japan.
