There’s a new look at exactly how mapping will work in the updated rereleases of Etrian Odyssey, Etrian Odyssey 2, and Etrian Odyssey 3 on new platforms. Atlus shared a brief Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection video. It begins by showing how all-manual mapping looks in the game. After that, it offers a look at where people can choose additional options, then how the full Automap feature works.
First of all, the video is a clip of Etrian Odyssey 3. The player is on B1F and is about to get a treasure in E3. It shows how the left and right triggers are used when placing items and preparing maps, as well as the different icons for charting. With the treasure chest icon, it will open or close based on whether the player already obtained the item in the chest.
At just about the 40 second mark, the video clip shows the Options menu. The Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection Automap mapping function appears under the Field section, along with Movement Speed, Dominant Hand Setting, Mapping Cursor Position, and Mapping Touch Controls. It shows on, off, and automap as possibilities, with automap filling in walls and floors.
