Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion Has Hand Drawn Sprites, Scrolling Backgrounds

While consoles get Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, the Nintendo 3DS is getting a separate game, Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion. A preview from Nintendo Power magazine revealed the game last week, and now, we have a few scarce details on what kind of game it is.

For starters, Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion will be a follow-up to Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (above), a platformer originally released on the Sega Genesis. The Power of Illusion uses hand-drawn sprites and scrolling parallax backgrounds.

Using the 3DS touchscreen, you’ll be able to bring items scattered throughout each stage into existence. How well you trace these items will affect their performance as well. Nintendo Power mentions a cannon as an example. Tracing the cannon perfectly will make it so it only harms enemies, but an imperfect cannon could be a danger to everyone in the area.

Each stage in Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion is based on a different Disney animated feature, including Sleeping Beauty and Tangled. The game is being developed by Henry Hatsworth developer, Dreamrift. Unfortunately, no screenshots are available yet.
