Eerie Indie RPG Winter Voices Looks Chilling

Winter Voices is an upcoming indie role-playing game by French developer, Beyondthepillars, for the PC and Mac. It’s an episodic game, broken up into 7 chapters, that starts out in a tiny snow-covered village.

The trailer gives off a cool adventure game sort of vibe, but we’re not entirely sure what Winter Voices is actually about, as the trailer also does a pretty job of keeping anything but the most vague plot details under wraps.

Nor does it show you what the actual game looks like — you’ll have to look at the screenshots below for that. Meanwhile, here’s a summary of the first episode from the game’s official website:

“A small village buried in snow, lost in the northern regions of the Kingdom of the Three-River Principality. A sudden death, a hostile home, new sensory capacities rising like a storm, and the departure towards the unknown. Escape is the only way out, besides death itself… The orphan heroine is forced to leave her father’s village by the voices of her unconscious.

Through a long journey in search for answers in her past and present, she will have to overcome anger, sadness, pain and fear, and discover eventually what the Voices of Winter have to say to her. It’s your turn to live the experience.”

As far as battles go, Winter Voices uses a turn-based system. Episode 1, titled Avalanche, will release this Winter with one new episode added each week. Each episode will cost 5€. Here’s a few screenshots from the beta build:
