People who prefer to own an Earwig and the Witch DVD or Blu-ray copy won’t have to wait too long. Gkids announced release dates for the two options that give you versions of the Studio Ghibli movie you can watch any time. The digital copies will be out first on March 23, 2021. Then, on April 6, 2021, the Blu-ray and DVD copies will appear.
There will be two versions of the Earwig and the Witch DVD and Blu-ray sets available. Gkids already has pre-orders open for both of them. The basic one costs $24.99. It gives you the DVD and Blu-ray. Both have the “Creating Earwig and the Witch” feature and Japanese voice actor interviews. The Blu-ray also shows off storyboards for the movie.
The other option is $30.99. It’s identical to the standard Blu-ray and DVD release, except everything comes in a Steelbook case.
As for the theatrical and streaming debut, that’s coming up quite soon. There will be two showings in theaters in the US between February 3-4, 2021. Then, it will show up on HBO Max on February 5, 2021.
Earwig and the Witch is immediately available in Japan. It will show up in US theaters on February 3-4, 2021. The Earwig and the Witch digital copies will be sold on March 23, 2021, followed by a DVD and Blu-ray combo pack on April 6, 2021.
