After a little teasing, an absence is being filled. Blaster Master Zero is heading to the PlayStation 4. But, there’s even more going on. To celebrate that, Inti Creates is offering people a look behind the scenes. So, the developer has shared Blaster Master Zero Jason and Eve design documents that look at how the characters’ designs developed as the team worked on the original game.

The first design documents that were shared on Twitter focused on Blaster Master Zero’s Jason. It started off by, well, looking at the original Metafight hero, Kane Gardner. While that design wasn’t used, it did come up in Blaster Master Zero 2 in a way via Metal Attacker pilots. From there, it looks at Yuji Natsume character designs that eventually led up to the Jason people know from the game.

Here are the four Blaster Master Zero Jason design documents.

As for the Blaster Master Zero Eve design documents, the designs there also begin with a Metafight character: Jennifer. The second page of images shows Natsume’s Blaster Master-inspired designs. The final decision came about after a “’gentlemanly’ discussion” and fused two design ideas, to create something that both called to mind Jennifer and would maybe “make for good cosplay.” The final image shared went over Eve’s cooking skills.

Here are the three Blaster Master Zero Eve design documents and bonus Eve and Jason art.

Blaster Master Zero is immediately available for the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It will come to the PlayStation 4 on June 29, 2020.
