The Entertainment Software Association issued a statement about its plans for E3 2020. This time, it’s going over two very different elements about the show. One has to do with a collaboration with iam8bit, a company known for physical editions of certain indie games, vinyl records, and accessories. The other has to do with the security breach that leaked the personal information for analysts and members of the media who attended E3 2019.
The information about the iam8bit collaboration is slim. However, the ESA referred to the people from the store as “tastemakers” and said their presence would “reinvigorate the show.” In the past iam8bit has done things like create 30th anniversary cartridges for Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X, released a vinyl soundtrack for Doki Doki Literature Club, and a Daemon x Machina CD soundtrack. This could have something to do with the merchandise that the ESA will sell at the show this year.
As for security, the ESA says that this year it has updated all of its methods of securing information provided by attendees. It noted that a cybersecurity firm had been tapped to work on its website. It also says all of the data acquired about individuals will not be stored on its site, it will ask for less when people register, and it has gone over how it tackles things.
E3 2020 will be held June 9-11, 2020 in Los Angeles, California. While Sony won’t be attending the event, Microsoft has confirmed it will be there.
