Koei Tecmo recently had a lot to share about their upcoming game Dynasty Warriors 9, which is taking a big step with an open-world with plenty of new actions. Famitsu shares a first look with new screenshots.

The game takes place in an open-world setting, but it’ll still be Dynasty Warriors, where you’ll take on thousands of enemies at a time, and it’ll still take place during the Three Kingdoms of China—the only difference is that it’ll take place on one big map.
With an open-world setting, there’s plenty of new actions in Dynasty Warriors 9, where you’ll get to attack enemies from a long distance with a bow, sneak around enemy bases, and more.
The game also introduces a new “State Combo” system, a three-stage system with a trigger attack, combo flow, and powerful finisher that can be adjusted according to the enemy’s situation.
