In July 2020, it was announced that Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition would be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in December 2020. This version will contain all of the features that were previously exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of the game. This means there are the extra storylines, 2D content, more character relationship options, and an extra boss fight.

Dragon Quest XI and Dragon Quest XI S sales have managed to reach well into the millions without the release of the upcoming PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 ports. Additionally, it was announced that Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition would be making its way to PCs through the Epic Games storefront.

Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition will come to the Xbox One, PS4, and PC on December 4, 2020. Dragon Quest XI is immediately available on the Nintendo 3DS, and Dragon Quest XI: S is immediately available on Nintendo Switch.
