Toei has announced Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will be delayed. In a statement, the company revealed that the hacking incident that took place in March 2022 has made it difficult to produce the film. However, Toei stated that it will announce the new release date of the film sometime in the near future. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was originally supposed to release in Japan on April 22, 2022. [Thanks, Dengeki!]
The full statement from Toei reads as follows:
As previously announced, Toei Animation, the production company behind Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, has experienced unauthorized access to its network by a third party. This has made it difficult to produce the film. As a result, we have no choice but to postpone the release of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. We apologize to those looking forward to the release of the film. However, we will announce a new release date in the near future. Thank you for your understanding.
It is unclear if this delay will affect the North American release of the film, which is scheduled for summer 2022. Leading up to the release of the film, Toei has shared several character designs and pieces of key artwork. This includes a piece of artwork featuring Gohan and Picccolo.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero has been delayed and will premiere in Japan presumably sometime in 2022. It is scheduled to release in summer 2022 in North America.
