Nintendo announced a neat event for Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch. It’s novel because it actually involves the game’s namesake. Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, the neuroscientist connected to this and other brain training games, is participating in an event that will run from July 4-5, 2020.
The Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch event involves the game’s World Championship. (This is a mode added after launch that lets people participate in online, ranked tournaments.) Things will all kick off at 9am CET on July 4, 2020. Then, on July 5, 2020 at 9am CET, the competition will end.
While Dr. Kawashima is most famous for the Brain Age/Brain Training series, he was involved with some other brain training video games that were widely circulated. The two notable ones from Bandai Namco were Brain Exercise with Dr. Kawashima and Body and Brain Connection. (The latter even used the Xbox 360’s Kinect to add motion controls to the various challenges.)
Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch is available in Europe and Japan. There is no sign of a North American release. However, the international ones did involve special styluses and even marked the return of Brain Age 2’s Dr. Mario-like minigame as Germ Buster.
