Based on the manga of the same name, The Quintessential Quintuplets is based on the manga by Negi Haruba (called Gotoubun no Hanayome in Japanese). It stars the high schooler Futaro Uesugi, who is hired to tutor the Nakano sisters, quintuplets who all do terribly at school. Told in retrospect, the story reveals that Futaro has gotten involved with and married one of the sisters. The rest of the story drops hints and eventually reveals jus which Nakano sister Futaro ended up with. The manga was adapted into a 2019 anime series, with a second season, The Quintessential Quintuplets ∬ airing in January 2021. Rather than a third season of Quintessential Quintupletsthe sequel to the second season will be delivered as a feature film in 2022.

The Quintessential Quintuplets is available on streaming services worldwide. A game adaptation, The Quintessential Quintuplets ∬: Summer Memories Come in Fives! was released for the PS4 and Switch in March 2021 in Japan. No international release plans for the game have been announced.
