With the PS4 and PS5 joining the list of Tower of Fantasy platforms as of August 8, 2023, an important question arises: does Tower of Fantasy have cross-play between both consoles and the Android, iOS, PC, versions? Yes, but it is a bit limited. Basically, console versions are in a walled garden.
Does Tower of Fantasy have cross-play so I can play with friends?
Tower of Fantasy does support cross-play, but only on certain platforms. If you’re an Android, iOS, or PC player, you will be able to play with others with no problem, including exploring and taking on quests, as long as you’re on the same server.
However, if you’re playing on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, cross-play is not available in Tower of Fantasy. On June 11, 2023, the Tower of Fantasy Team posted an update on the game’s official website, explaining why this is the case for PlayStation players, citing that it’s impossible to transfer data from the platform.
…We immediately contacted the Perfect World Company to clarify and they confirmed that Tower of Fantasy will be released and operated as a stand-alone version of the game on the PlayStation platform. This means that there will be no cross-platform connectivity, as game data from the PlayStation version will not be able to merge or transfer with the PC and mobile versions.”
Cross-progression is also unsupported on the PS4 and PS5, meaning you can’t play on the consoles and then pick up where you left off on your mobile or PC. If you start a save file on your PS4 or PS5, it will be a completely independent experience.
Tower of Fantasy is free-to-play now on the PC and mobile devices. It is releasing for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 8, 2023.
