The Final Fantasy XVI demo is now out on PlayStation 5 and lets you play through the RPG’s opening chapters. The prologue features a younger version of protagonist Clive Rosfield, tasked with taking out ogres who have invaded the nearby marshes. Yes, your Final Fantasy XVI Demo progress will carry over to the game’s full release. After you have finished the prologue’s campaign, you will get a prompt to create a “Demo Completed” save. When you get the full copy of Final Fantasy XVI, you’ll see the option to load up your file and continue from where you left off in the story.
This means that every item and experience point Clive earned will also carry over on launch. Even your skill points and abilities will pick up where you left off, making it worth jumping into the demo right now. However, you will need to actually complete the full demo to keep your save progression.

Although the Final Fantasy XVI demo is only a few hours long, the prologue covers a lot of ground. In the opening chapters alone, you can kick off Clive’s skill tree progression and unlock several key abilities that determine your combat playstyle. The demo also covers the main gameplay mechanics. So if you have finished the demo, you can rest easy, as your work will carry over when the full game is out.
Final Fantasy XVI will release on PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023.
