Does Dragon’s Dogma 2 Have a New Game Plus Mode?

New Game Plus is a feature common in most RPGs, and the first Dragon’s Dogma was no exception to this rule. So, players may be wondering if there will be a Dragon’s Dogma 2 New Game Plus mode and what it entails.

What does Dragon’s Dogma 2 New Game Plus include – how to unlock

The answer is simple. Yes. Dragon’s Dogma 2 does, in fact, have a New Game Plus feature. Upon completing Dragon’s Dogma 2, you will be sent back to the main menu. You will then be given the option to start a New Game+ file or start an entirely fresh save. New Game Plus in Dragon’s Dogma 2 includes a few key features, which we’ll list below:

  • Character levels carry over.
  • Vocation levels and progress carry over.
  • Retain Items and Weapons from your completed save (this applies to both your Arisen Character and Pawns).

Naturally, key story items will not transfer over. You will need to complete the main story beats again to obtain these items. But any Portcrystals or Ferrystones you’ve obtained will be available to pick up at the inn in Melve. This goes for any weapons and armor you’ve acquired.

Additionally, you can swap to any Vocation you have unlocked. The game will not reset progress on this or force you to complete Vocation quests a second time to unlock the Trickster, Magick Archer, Mystic Spearhand Warfarer, Sorcerer, or Warrior, for example.

Finally, those looking for more of a challenge out of Dragon’s Dogma 2 may be disappointed as new Game+ does not offer a Hard Mode. That means if you cleared the game at a higher level (like I did), you’ll be cleaving through enemies with ease. That said, New Game+ makes it easy to complete objectives, so if you missed any quests your first time around you can finish them with little effort this go around.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
