DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou Returns to Japanese Arcades on exA-Arcadia With New Elements

DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou

It’s been a while since we’ve last heard of Cave shooter DoDonPachi Saidaioujou, the last original game in its long-running DonPachi series of shoot ’em ups, but it turns out that it’s returning in a new form. Nearly seven years after the last release of the game on Xbox 360, DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou returns with a new port onto Show Me Holdings’ exA-Arcadia arcade platform.

The new version, simply titled DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou EXA Version, is set to launch in Summer 2020 in arcades. It’s being worked on by exA-Arcadia with Cave’s approval and is set to be the first return of the game onto arcades in eight years.

While unspecified, the official press release says that there will be some new elements for this version. The original game became popular due to its “Get Point System” where defeating enemies in chains would lead to bonus score, and the “Hyper System” where depending on the player’s actions, they would fill up a gauge that would let them access a powered-up mode when filled and activated. exA-Arcadia states that it hopes players will look forward to see how the game will be reborn with these two systems at its core.

More information on the game will be revealed in the coming months.

DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou EXA Version will launch in arcades in Japan in Summer 2020.
