With a massive galaxy to explore and more than a thousand planets to uncover in Starfield, you might be wondering if there are aliens in this game. After all, past Bethesda titles experimented with other races, such as in The Elder Scrolls games, or actual aliens in the Fallout titles. But is this the same for the latest Bethesda RPG universe?

Note: There are some spoilers regarding aliens in Starfield below.

After spending more than 70 hours in Starfield, I can let you know that aliens do exist in this game. However, they may not be what you’re specifically looking for and thinking about. The aliens you’ll find in this game are unintelligent and unable to be spoken with in the normal sense, as they are just creatures you fight throughout the game.

So no, there are no intelligent alien lifeforms I’ve found yet. Though there are hints of possibly other intelligent civilizations.

What Are Terrormorphs in Starfield?

That said, one of the most important alien creatures you’ll come across in this game are the Terrormorphs. These monstrous aliens are a menace and have even destroyed entire civilizations. If you want an extraterrestrial-focused part of this game, play through the UC Vanguard faction storyline.

There are also the Starborn that you’ll meet in the main story of this game. These beings involve Constellation. Again, this is a spoiler for the main plot, but the Starborn aren’t aliens despite seeming like it. They are essentially immortal human beings who have continuously switched timelines after assembling special artifacts.

You even know the identity of some of the Starborn you meet throughout the game. That said, the artifacts and temples you find in this game weren’t seemingly made by the Starborn, so who did create them? This is a question left unanswered until potential DLC or a sequel game.

Starfield is available for the Xbox Series X/S and PC.
