Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance introduces new classes such as the Maid who can act plus use an item every turn and the Wrestler who can keep throwing characters as long as he doesn’t move. Each new class has to be earned in battle, so before you can use a Wrestler you have to beat one into submission.
Siliconera played the English-localized version of Disgaea 5 and fought the Wrestler plus his posse. The core battle system is familiar if you’ve played the Disgaea series. Having character attack the same enemy in tandem increases the amount of damage you do and throwing characters into the right position is the key to winning fights faster. The biggest change is the Revenge system, which supercharges friends as well as foes when characters die. The build I tried unlocked powerful attacks for Killia, Seraphina, and Usalia, which gave me an unfair advantage over the poor Wrestler.
When the NIS America staff localized dialog for the Wrestler they snuck in some WWE jokes. The Wrestler’s dialog has riffs of Macho Man Randy Savage, can you dig it?
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance comes out on October 6 in North America and October 9 in Europe.
