Japanese developer Granzella has acquired the Disaster Report I.P. from Irem, this week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation magazine reveals. (Thanks, Re:Zaregoto)

The news was confirmed in Dengeki PS by Granzella president Kazuma Kujo. Kujo created Disaster Report while he worked at Irem, along with Steambot Chronicles. When Irem cancelled two of its projects—Disaster Report 4 and Steambot Chronicles 2—Kujo left the company and founded Granzella.

Effectively, this means that the Disaster Report I.P. is now back in the hands of its creator. Kujo says a new game is in development and is planned for release in 2015.

The last Disaster Report game, Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories, was cancelled due to the occurrence of the Tohoku Earthquake in Japan back in 2011. After Granzella was formed in the wake of its cancellation, the studio worked on spaces for PlayStation Home.
