Demon Slayer Season 2 is Coming This Year

Demon Slayer Season 2 Uzui

Season 2 of Demon Slayer was officially announced at the end of the Kimetsu no Yaiba Second Anniversary Event and is set to start in 2021. The newest season will follow Tengen Uzui and the Entertainment District storyline. The creators also announced two new coloring books will be sold starting March 4, 2021, with each featuring 36 pieces of artwork from the original manga. A special art contest hosted by Shueisha will be announced on that same day. [Thanks, Natalie.mu!]

The second season trailer, which is unfortunately region locked to Japan, showcased scenes of vibrant nightlife as well as some of the key characters in this arc. The second season looks to dive more into the backstory of the series’ most flamboyant Hashira, Tengen Uzui. Yoshiwara, a former red-light district of Tokyo, is set to be the next stage in the demon slayers’ journey.

This comes at a pivotal time for the franchise, which reported earlier on February 15, 2021 that it hit a record total of 150 million manga copies sold worldwide. The announcement also followed the gameplay reveal of the series’ first-ever video game and a reveal that an art exhibition will open in Tokyo in February 2021.

Unfortunately, there is still no concrete release date for the anime and no confirmation on when or if season two will continue to be available on streaming services in the west.
