People can see the more lighthearted Demon Slayer anime now. Crunchyroll announced it added the Demon Slayer spin-off Junior High and High School!! Kimetsu Academy Story to its library. Both the original Japanese version with subtitles and an English dub are available.
As this is an alternate reality show, Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu are all ordinary high school students. Some of their allies and Hashira appear as fellow students and teachers. However, while it is separate from the main storyline and there are no demons, some elements remain present. For example, rather than the bamboo muzzle Nezuko usually wears, she’s constantly eating bread from her family’s bakery. Each of these seven anime episodes are shorts and are less than three minutes long.
Here’s a trailer from Junior High and High School!! Kimetsu Academy Story. On Crunchyroll proper, English, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese subtitles are available.
This won’t be the only way people can see Tanjiro and his friends’ school days adventures. Viz Media announced it will localize the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu Academy manga adaptation as well. Volumes of it will begin appearing in Fall 2023.
Both the regular Demon Slayer anime adaptation and Junior High and High School!! Kimetsu Academy Story are streaming on Crunchyroll. Viz Media handles the localization and publishing of the manga for both in English.
