Deck Out Your Mechs In Arc System Works’ Damascus Gear: Tokyo War Begins

While the Nintendo 3DS gets Swords & Darkness from Arc System Works this winter, PlayStation Vita gets a separate title. Smartphone gamers have been playing Damascus Gear for awhile now—a game chock full of customizable robots, explosions and the post-apocalyptic world. Vita players will soon get their own version in Damascus Gear: Tokyo War Begins this winter.

The year is 2097, several decades after the fourth world war in 2050. As new member of secret organization Freya, players take control of customizable mechs called Gears, embarking on various missions. Those Gears will be the stars of the show—with the video above showing off the ability to even get your own paint scheme going, alongside loadouts that change the look and feel of your mech as well.

Players can customize not just what weapons they’re holding on both hands but extra armaments on their backs and possibly elsewhere. Semi top-down action with big numbers and bigger explosions, there’s also a storyline to follow, complete with rivalry against fellow rookie pilot Kotetsu.

Look out for Damascus Gear this winter on Sony’s PlayStation Vita Store.
