Deathsmiles I and II Switch, PS4, and Xbox One Versions Announced

Deathsmiles I and II

A compilation of both Deathsmiles I and II for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One has been confirmed. A new teaser video showing off gameplay has been uploaded by the publisher, City Connection. Deathsmiles I and II are side-scrolling shoot ’em up games, notable for their gothic lolita characters, horror aesthetic, and peculiar CG enemy designs.

Developed by Cave, veterans of the “bullet hell” genre, Deathsmiles I and II released in arcades back in 2007 and 2009 respectively. Both games were later ported to the Xbox 360; the first game even saw ports to iOS, Android, and Microsoft Windows. However, the upcoming compilation will mark the series’ first release in over 5 years. The compilation was mentioned during a TGS 2019 stream, but this is the first we’ve heard of it since last year.

A teaser video for the Deathsmiles I and II Switch, PS4, and Xbox One ports was released at TGS 2020, showing off the hectic gameplay and visual style.

City Connection has published several titles for the Switch, PS4, and PC in recent years. The company’s past efforts include Soldam: Drop, Connect, Erase; some shoot’em up games from Psikyo; and Penguin Wars. The publisher has prepared an official website for the compilation, though it is a preliminary one at the moment.

Deathsmiles I and II are scheduled to release in Japan in 2021 for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
