Dead or Alive 5 Pro Footage Featuring Brad Wong vs. Eliot

Brad Wong uses Drunken Fist kung fu. It’s a tricky style that uses unexpected and confusing moves. For DOA5, we put in a new stance: the handstand. Brad can transition into a handstand from a variety of moves, and once in that stance, not only can he do normal strikes, when he lies down with his head to the opponent and launches the opponent with K, he will do a handstand and can followup with an air throw. And of course he still has his standard stances like lying down, back-turned, and dokuritsu-ho (standing on one leg). Working all his unusual moves into a fight makes just watching the fight a lot of fun.

Eliot has been practicing his Xing Yi Quan. His new move Sunsho doesn’t have good reach or any followups, but with a 9-frame startup, it’s really useful for getting into an opponent. He also learned a 10-hit combo moved called Gogyo-Renkan-Ken, designed to be like a real martial arts form (kata). In the footage, it looks like Eliot can easily launch people with Choryo, but it’s actually really hard to do. Pulling it off like this is the footage—that’s how a pro plays!

Dead or Alive 5 will be released on September 25th in North America.
