At TGA 2022, we got a sneak peak at a Castlevania DLC that will appear in Dead Cells. It will appear some time in Q1 2023. The trailer featured both Alucard and Richter alongside the Beheaded. It is likely that the crossover is due to the fact that Dead Cells is a side-scroller “Metroidvania,” which straight up takes its name from Castlevania.

In the trailer, you can see the Beheaded wandering through Dracula’s castle, which is full of dead bodies. In the description, it states that you can fight alongside Alucard and Richter, as well as use weapons from the Castlevania series. At the end, they face off against Dracula himself. There will be a total of 14 Castlevania weapons you will be able to use.

Here is the trailer for the Return to Castlevania DLC:

According to Ben Laudan, who is the co-founder of Evil Empire and the COO of the company, stated that he is excited for this collaboration because of Castlevania‘s influence on gaming. It is the direct inspiration behind Dead Cells. As such, there are a lot of references to the series in the DLC. Aside from two Castlevania maps and the aforementioned weapons, there will be 51 original Castlevania tracks and 12 reimagined ones to listen to as you explore Dracula’s castle.

Dead Cells is available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, macOS, Xbox One, and mobile devices. The Return to Castlevania DLC will appear in Dead Cells some time in Q1 2023 for PC and consoles.
