Dark Souls 3 PC Servers Are Back Online, Others to Follow

Dark Souls 3 Server PC

FromSoftware has restored online servers for the PC version of Dark Souls 3 as of August 25th, 2022. The news comes after a group of hackers managed to find a major security exploit in the game’s code earlier this year. FromSoftware also announced that the servers for PC versions of Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls Remastered will also follow suit at a later date.

Back in January 2022, a group of white hat hackers found an exploit in Dark Souls 3. The security exploit would reportedly allow hackers to remotely execute commands on any player connected to the Dark Souls 3 servers. After bringing this to the attention of FromSoftware, the company decided to shut down the game’s servers. As many games in the Dark Souls franchise share netcode, this also resulted in the PC servers of Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls Remastered going offline.

Over half a year later, it appears FromSoftware has managed to fix the issue. As such, FromSoftware announced that it had “finalized its investigation and countermeasures”. Similarly, it is currently working on applying the countermeasures to Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls Remastered. FromSoftware added that it would inform players once the countermeasures have been applied.

Dark Souls 3 is available to play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
