Dr-Richie-74 on Reddit discovered that ARMS comic writer Ian Flynn listed on his official website that the planned Dark Horse series about the game is canceled. In the Dark Horse Portfolio section, the ARMS comic is listed, but noted as a “planned, but unfortunately canceled” project. [Thanks, Reddit!]
Dark Horse and Flynn both announced the comic back in 2018. The Free Comic Book Day May 2018 preview issue offered a glimpse at the potential direction of the adaptation. The 12-page comic primarily focused on the “new” Spring Man’s introduction. (He’s the version of the fighter that appears in the ARMS game.) It ends with him challenging commissioner Max Brass, then Brass looking at the competitors for the next Grand Prix.
The cliffhanger noted that ARMS Volume 1: Contenders would continue the story. While the cover said a graphic novel would launch in Fall 2018, Flynn’s May 2018 tweet noted it would appear in 2019.
Here’s the ARMS free comic book day cover.
ARMS itself is available for the Nintendo Switch worldwide. While there haven’t been any recent updates since its last ARMS Party Crash Bash in 2019 and 2020 North American Online Open, Min Min appeared in as a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character.
