Publishers Gamevil unveiled a slew of upcoming mobile titles at GDC, and one in the works is called Dungeon Link. This fantasy puzzle game starts off sounding like every other social mobile game you might have heard of: Collectible characters, dungeons to advance through, monsters and bosses to kill.
The twist is in how players have to strategize every attack by planning the route a character takes to the enemy.
Once battle is engaged, characters and monsters will scatter across a board randomly. You’ll have to link a character to their same-colored tile board by tracing a link between the two tiles. If it passes through a few monsters on the way, great! Release and the tiles you’ve selected will disappear, dealing damage to foes standing in the way as well.
This sound easy enough at first, especially since you can only bring four characters into battle, but once maps begin to get bigger and foes more dangerous, the challenge of how to effectively reach the enemy, deal damage and still make it back to the safe tile comes into play.
Dungeon Link is set to launch on smartphones second quarter 2014.
