Satellite Reign, the cyberpunk turn-based strategy game recently announced via Kickstarter, has reached its funding goal with time to spare. So far the game has accumulated over £367,000 in funds—comfortably over its original £350,000 funding goal.
So, what’s got people excited about Satellite Reign? It’s a spiritual successor to a famous turn-based strategy game titled Syndicate Wars, for one thing. Satellite Reign takes place in your typical cyberpunk setting where the world is ruled by powerful corporations and a group of opposing rebels is fighting to reclaim their “freedom”. In Satellite Reign, the setting happens to be a single city, and the developers will be investing their efforts in making it feel like a living, breathing place, which will give rise to unanticipated experiences while playing.
You’ll control the small group of rebels that are fighting to overthrow the mysterious corporation that has control of this metropolis with four characters—Soldier, Support, Assassin and Hacker. Each one will play their own role and offer different ways to work towards your goal. For example, the Hacker will be able to take control of people through hacking into their minds, while the Soldier will be more of an offensive unit.
Satellite Reign will be released on Windows, Mac OS and Linux.
