Cyberpunk 2077 Is Now Golden, on Track for Launch

CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 has gone gold. The company made the announcement on Twitter, with a picture of Johnny Silverhand holding a copy of the game disc. (That’s Keanu Reeves’ character.) This means that there is a shippable version of the game available, which means that we should see it make its November 19, 2020 release date.

This announcement comes after a Bloomberg report from Jason Schreier that CD Projekt Red employees were told they had to work six-days each week on Cyberpunk 2077 ahead of launch. While staff will be paid for this additional time, the email from CD Projekt Red Studio Head Adam Badowski said people would be working the six days to eliminate bugs. All this comes after the studio’s founder, Marcin Iwinski, told Schreier and Kotaku in June 2019 that the developer was “committed” to a healthy home-life balance and no crunch.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed twice in 2020 so far. The first pushed the game’s release date into September 2020. Then, after an announcement that team members would be working from home during the pandemic, the game was bumped back to November 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 will come to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 19, 2020. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Google Stadia versions are also in development.
