The Cooking Mama Cookstar saga might have a new chapter, as there are again suggestions a PS4 version might surface. On March 22, 2021, the official Twitter account said pre-orders were open. Back on March 23, 2021, Wario64 noted that the pre-order page was on Target and qualified for a buy two, get one free promotion. Most recently, the official Facebook page promoted it, saying the PS4 game will be compatible with the PS5. No release date is listed, and Siliconera reached out to Planet Entertainment.
This comes after multiple legal issues with the game. As Laura Kate Dale pointed out, the statement Office Create released back on April 15, 2020 remains present on its official site. It said, “Office Create has not licensed Planet (or any other entity) to create any Cooking Mama games for PS4. Office Create itself has not been involved in the development of any PS4™ Cooking Mama game.” It also noted, “To date, Planet has not confirmed the status of the unauthorized PS4 version.”
Here is the tweet advertising its PS5 compatibility.
No #PS4? No problem! #CookingMamaCookstar is backwards compatible for the #PlayStation 5! Make your favorite snack & get cooking w/Mama! #PS5
